Why I decided to go into teaching.

People have often asked me why I decided to go into teaching as a profession. I've known for sometime that this is what I want to do with my life. Back in 2006, I was a teen leader at 4H camp. I took this homesick little girl under my wing and even gave her one of my shirts after the water olympics (we all were soaked). She looked at me with tears in her eyes and said, "I want to be like you when I grow up." That statement made such a profound impact on me, I probably will remember that for the rest of my life. Since then, I've been back twice to camp, and that little girl has blossomed into a confident young lady and I'm excited to see what the future has in store for her. I want to be a teacher to make a difference.. plain and simple.
